Karen Roden Smith, age 70 of Broadway, died Tuesday (8/9/2016) at her home. She was born on January 27, 1946, daughter of the late Victor E. Roden and Freda Mae Wilson Roden. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rondal A. Smith and her daughter Rondale "Prue" Smith. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 :00 pm on Thursday afternoon at the East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport, TN with Rev. Stan Hill officiating. Surviving are her son Thomas A. Smith and wife Cindy of McMinnville, Tennessee; Sister Odessa Hunt of St. Mary's, West Virginia ; Brother Tony Roden of St. Mary's, West Virginia, her caregiver and nephew Craig Hadley of Broadway, NC and two grandchildren Allison Paige Smith and Paxton Allen Smith. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the NC State Veterans Memorial, PO Box 130 Broadway, NC 27505.
