Kathleen Theresa Barone Smith, age 71, of Newton Grove, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026. Kathleen was born in Syracuse, New York on June 18, 1955, to the late Nicholas Barone and Ann Barone Ziparo. She was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Barone. Surviving relatives include her husband of 47 years, Ricky Smith; son, Zachary Smith and wife Jennifer; acquired son, Jeremiah Carmain and wife Ashleigh; grandchildren, Aurora Stevenson, Brooke Carmain and Hagen Smith. Also surviving are her two brothers, Nicholas Barone, Mark Barone and wife Sandy; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family is planning a celebration of life gathering; at this time dates are to be determined.
