Larry Alexander Wilson, 68, of Lillington died peacefully at UNC Hospital, Sunday, February 21, 2016, surrounded by family and friends after a brave battle with cancer. He was born September 30, 1947, in Broadway to the late Frankie Lee and Annie Allman Wilson. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Bodenhamer and Catherine Wicker. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy McNeill Wilson and sons Steven Wilson of Cary and Shane Wilson of Lillington. He has one beloved granddaughter Maggi Wilson of Lillington. He is also survived by one sister, Ann Ganzel of Florida; four brothers, Tommy Wilson and wife Lucy of Sanford, Ronnie Wilson and wife Michelle of Broadway, Ray Wilson and his late wife Lucille of Sanford and Neil Wilson and wife Lisa of Sanford as well as many nephews and nieces. Larry was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch most sports but had a soft spot for golf. He was a carpenter by trade and his passion for cooking led him to build Boone Trail Grill which he owned and operated for 14 years until his retirement. Since his retirement, he spent his time working in the garden,raising cows and spoiling his pooches. He loved to hunt, fish and play cards with many of his fondest memories from card games with his brothers. He knew
how to throw a party and anyone who attended one of his NASCAR final race parties could attest to that. He knew how to put out a spread. Larry had a great sense of humor, a mischievous streak and a contagious laugh. You always wanted to share the moment with him. He loved his family, God and life but held a special love for his wife. He was loved by anyone that knew him and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Multipurpose Building from 6-8pm on Tuesday (2/23/2016) and other times at the home of Shane Wilson. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Jerry Parsons and Rev. Scott Yow at Holly Springs Baptist Church at 2pm on Wednesday (2/24/2016) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
