Larry Eugene Harrington, age 80 of Broadway, died Monday (12/23/2013) at his home. He was born in Lee County on May 12, 1933, son of the late David Ochiltree Harrington and Annie Underwood Harrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Allie Wade, Beulah Buchanan, Nell Shaw, Annie "Till" Lawson, Ethel Baggett,Inez McLeod, Mac Harrington, Paul Harrington and Fred Harrington. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, worked for many years with Pepsi and retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of the Broadway Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Thursday at the Broadway Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Rodda and Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Carolyn McNeill Harrington of the home; Daughter Jane Harrington Quist of Broadway, NC; Son David Harrington (Cathy) of Broadway, NC; Brother Harold Harrington of Broadway, NC; Sister-in-law Polly Harrington of Broadway, NC; and granddaughters Paula Ann Harrington and Payton Sloan Quist. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Thursday , one hour prior to the funeral service at the Broadway Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
