Lorrie Jean Blackburn age 58 of Sanford, North Carolina passed away
on Monday (November 7, 2016) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford following a lengthy illness. Lorrie was preceded in death by her parents Robert Wesley Blackburn and Shirley Ash Langton. Lorrie was born in Everette, WA and Raised in Stockholm NJ where she attended Pope John XXIII High School. Lorrie earned her Associates Degree from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. She later earned her Bachelor's degree from Montreat College in Montreat, NC. Lorrie once proudly served as the first female firefighter in Franklin Lakes, NJ and was an active member of the Moose Lodge of Sanford. Lorrie is survived by her son, Sean Murphy of Nashua, NH, her daughter Jean Brayton of Sanford, her grandson Ian Brayton, her sister Robyn Clark of Sanford, nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends. The Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 12th at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway NC. Visitation will be followed by a Memorial service at 2:00 PM. There will also be a casual gathering of remembrance at 5:00 pm at the Moose Lodge of Sanford, 831 Woodland Avenue in Sanford. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com.
