Luther Tillman Byrd, age 91 of Broadway, died Wednesday (5/12/2021) at Duke Hospice - Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.  He was born in Lee County, son of the Luther Garland Byrd and Elizabeth Queen Womack Byrd.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Neil M. Byrd and sister Ella Savannah McCain.  Graveside service will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday (5/19/2021) at the Shallow Well Church Cemetery with Jody McNeill officiating. Surviving is his niece, Sue Ellen Vester (Gene) of Sanford, NC.  Nephews, Walter Tillman Clarey (Tamara) of Lillington, NC, Garland Byrd (Sharon) of Brown Summit, NC and Neil Byrd Jr. of Greensboro, NC.  Friends may visit the Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday (5/18/2021) between the hours of 1pm-5pm to sign the register.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
