Mabel Currin McNeill, age 97 of Broadway, died Friday (3/29/2019) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. She was born on August 4, 1921, daughter of the late Cicero Farrow Currin and Esper Florence Moss Currin. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, four sisters and her husband Hugh McNeill. Mabel was a member of Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church and was a long-time business operator in the town of Broadway. She owned and operated Mabel's Beauty Salon until she retired at age 90. She had been honored as the Grand Marshal of the Broadway Christmas parade and featured on Wral's Tar Heel Traveler. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Surviving are her daughters, Sue McNeill and husband Gene of Broadway, NC and Patricia Hudgens and husband Charles of Monterey, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Marshall McNeill (Christy), Jason McNeill (Angela), Daniel McNeill (Betsy), Emily Gibson (Robert) , Amanda Freeland (Abe); seven great grandchildren and her best friend Carol Brown of Lillington, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Special thank you to her caregivers, Mess Freeman, Rhette Thomas, Bobbi Garrett and Kay Thomas for all the love and care given to Mabel.
