Margaret Hansen, 93 of Sanford, NC passed away peacefully at home with daughter Marcy Wood at her side on April 9, 2020.  Margaret was born Margaret Ethel Wilchuck to Ethel and Michael Wilchuck of Bound Brook, NJ on March 1, 1927.  She was the beloved wife of Chester (Chet) Hansen for 54 years. They relocated from New Jersey and spent most of their married life in North Carolina, falling in love with the country.

Surviving are her beloved children, Eloise Brown (William) of Lillington, NC, Jeff Hansen (Judy) of Sanford, NC, Corrie Heller (Larry) of Palmyra, VA and Marcy Wood (Randy) of Sanford, NC. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Tracey Noel of Broadway, NC and Kevin Brown of Lillington, NC.  Daniel Heller of Navarre FL., Bridget Prince of Henrico, VA., Ron Ashworth and Brandi Caraway of Sanford, NC. Margaret was blessed to have nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Too numerous to mention were the special people in her life who loved her and thought of her as Grandma.

Margaret also leaves behind two brothers, Jack Wilchuck (Louise) of Truro, Nova Scotia, and Michael Wilchuck of Bayville, NJ. Also, her dear sister-in-law Henrietta Hansen of Somerset, NJ and very dear friend Christine Griswa of Hillsborough, NJ and many dear nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Chester, and sister Charlotte Southard, of Edison, NJ.

Margaret's greatest joy in life was caring for her husband, children and spending time nurturing all the grandchildren. She treasured her family, and she touched each of their hearts deeply. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook and had a flair for baking. She also enjoyed crafting and crocheting. She was able to travel with her husband across much of the southeast during his years before retirement, and she enjoyed every destination. She also enjoyed traveling to see her family across the US and making new friends along the way!

Before her failing health, she loved attending Moore Union Christian Church. Margaret had a kind heart for animals, and in her later years, enjoyed sitting by the window observing the birds and watching the ducks swim on the pond.

She enjoyed many friendships over the years, and her family and friends will remember her as beautiful, loving, caring, tenacious and filled with fun and laughter. Those who loved her dearly will never forget her wit, she made us laugh up until the very end!

Margaret (Marge) was blessed to have Liberty HomeCare and Hospice compassionately and lovingly care for her in her transition. A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
