Mary Faye Williford Hardison, age 81 of Dunn passed away Saturday at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital. Mary was born in Harnett County on April 3, 1936, daughter of David Hughes Williford and Mary Pearl Godwin Williford, of Sampson,Co. NC. She was a graduate of Dunn High School Cass of 1954, and a graduate of King's Business College in Raleigh and also attended Campbell University. She retired in 1997 as an Executive Secretary with Carolina Power and Light Company in Dunn and Raleigh. She had remained active despite fighting Leukemia for the past few years. Mrs. Hardison was a Past-President of the Dunn Woman's Club. She was part of the Restoration of the Howard House in Dunn and was active with the Harnett County Arts Council. She also had been the US Southern Regional President of the Business & Professional Women of NC, as well as a Past-President of the local Dunn organization. She was a Past- President of the Betsy Johnson Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Corneila Person Campbell
Book Club, the Tuesday Review Book Club, The Averasboro Museum Committee, a Mary Kay makeup representative and enjoyed years as a member of various bridge clubs. Mrs. Hardison was a lifelong member and former deacon at Hood Memorial Christian Church. She also served as a Chairman of the Christian Women's Fellowship and sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Aubrey Hardison, Sr. and her parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday(7/19/2017) at Hood Memorial Christian Church in Dunn with the Revs. Jason and Joanie Williams, officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Williford Cemetery. Surviving are her daughter Cynthia Hardison-Wood and husband Michael Wood of Dunn, NC; Son Jesse Aubrey "Jay" Hardison and wife Rene of Dunn, NC. Four
Grandsons: Aubron Hardison Wood, Jordan Aubrey Hardison, Dylan Hughes Hardison,and Anderson Hughes Hardison Wood, all of Dunn, One Granddaughter; Kimberly Wood of Dunn, Three Great-Grandchildren; Braxton, Mallory, and Madison Wood all of Dunn. Her sister Pattie Williford Godwin and husband Kenny, of Dunn. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her memory to Hood Memorial Christian Church,300 East Cumberland Street, Dunn, NC, 28334.The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the service at the Hood Memorial Christian Church.
