Matthew Joel "Red" West, age 25 of Sanford, died Tuesday (11/12/2013)He was born in Lee County on May 6, 1988, son of Robert William West Jr. and Judy Ann Sheffield West. He was a Graduate of Lee County High School, Class of 2006 where he played on the soccer team and was named MVP. He attended Central Carolina Community College and was very creative and artistic. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Christy Dew officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his parents, Robert and Judy West of Sanford, NC; Daughter Aubree J'Ann West; Sister Jessica LeAnn West of Salemburg, NC; Aunt Ruby Kocher and Uncle Ronald and Cousins Michele Kocher and Dewayne Kocher. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm Sunday prior to the funeral service at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
