Maxwell Sneddon, age 83 of 123 Manassas Drive Sanford, died Monday (10/31/2011) at his home. He was born in Hamilton, Scotland on June 11, 1928, son of the late Hugh Sneddon and Margaret Cunningham Sneddon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Carol Sneddon; Brothers Alexander Sneddon and Hugh Sneddon; Sister-in-laws Elizabeth "Betty" Sneddon, Frances Sneddon and brother-in-law Roger Livermoore. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church, was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the British Army having served in Palestine and Jerusalem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Friday at the Broadway Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Pittman officiating. Surviving are his wife Mary Louise Ormsbee Sneddon of the home; Son Steven Sneddon and wife Rachel of Sanford, NC; Step-daughters Rosemary Harnick (Jim), Patty Fick (Alan) and Kelli Dempsey (Russell) of Michigan; Step-sons John Lesterson (Dawn) of Kasiloff, Alaska and Russell Lesterson of Florisent, Colorado; Brother William Sneddon of Newport News, VA; Seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the famiy home,123 Manassas Drive Sanford. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Broadway Baptist Church, 105 E. Harrington Ave. Broadway, NC 27505. Arrangments are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
