Mitchell Eugene Shelton, age 81 of Broadway, died Friday (7/13/2018) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Surry County, son of the late Lester Shelton and Margie Wagnor Shelton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandparents. Mitchell was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and he loved to play his guitar and sing country music. Memorial services will be held at 6pm Saturday (7/21/2018) at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Betty Hardy Shelton of the home. Daughters, Catherine Jean Carroll of Broadway, NC, Sarah Ann Thomas (Joey) of Sanford, NC., Linda Shelton Lowrie (Charles) of Gatlinburg, TN and Brenda Shelton Wright (Darell) of Cameron, NC. Sister, Katie Russ of Southern Pines, NC, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-6pm on Saturday (7/21/2018), one hour prior to the memorial services at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
