Nellie Irene Brown, age 94 of Sanford, died Friday (9/7/2018) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. She was born in Botetourt County Virginia, daughter of the late George Jasper Whiteneck and Ollie Craighead Whiteneck. She as preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lubert Felty Brown. Nellie enjoyed gardening and loved flowers and the outdoors. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Monday the Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving is her daughter Mary Ellen McNeill and husband Charles Wayne McNeill of Sanford, NC. Son John Collins and wife Emily of Hillsville, VA. Grandchildren Teresa Morton and husband David, Bobby Dickerson and wife Amelia, Susan Byrd and husband Darryn and Tracy Koski and husband Matt; nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
