Obituary

John (Paul) Sanderford, Jr and Nicole Childress Sanderford left this world too early on the afternoon of Sunday, March 15, 2020.   Their journey through life ended together, and although very sad and tragic it reflects the wonderful ways that they had lived their short lives – together and special to all who knew them.  Paul and Nicole were both the "babies" of their families, which was an honor they both sought to overcome by working harder while smiling more than humanly possible.  As a result, they were both the "jewel of the parent's eyes" and could do no wrong.   Paul was the son of John Paul and Francis Sanderford of Corinth, NC and was born March 22, 1978 in Goldsboro, NC.  Paul worked proudly with his father in the lumber business until early 2005 when he truly went "paperless" and began doing online marketing of anything glass, that had four small wheels, or was not nailed down.     Paul's quiet and often shy demeanor was his hidden weapon to win over every member of his extended family and unwitting friends.  With it, he unarmed everyone he met and quickly went to work to make them Panther fanatics or a comrade in Making America Great Again! Paul never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone, family or friend in need.  His devotion towards helping his "grandmother-in-law," Helen Mason after the loss of her beloved Bob was remarkable.  A trait not seen enough today.  This dedication was second only to his love for Nicole and their beautiful sons, Blake and Tyler.   Nicole was Paul's equal at earning instant affection from everyone she met.   Nicole was born to Jerry and Linda Childress on May 17, 1980 and instantly stole our hearts.  Nicole was the "kid sister" who surprisingly, never got left out and was a welcome participant in every great adventure!  Her sweet smile kept many close friends, siblings, and her cousins out of certain trouble at Carolina Beach  In early 2000, Nicole began her career as a Dental Assistant in Cary, NC.  Nicole's devotion to her patients and co-workers was phenomenal and quickly earned her respect from everyone.   Her drive to producing "winning smiles," like hers, was daunting to the rest of us.  Most of us can "only wish" we looked half as beautiful or smiled that nice!  Nicole relished her annual trips with her friends and co-workers to the beach, where she was guaranteed to be carded for being "too damn cute."   Although Paul and Nicole left us way to soon, they made our world so much better than it was before they entered it.  Please join the Sanderford and Childress families, and their many friends on Monday, March 23 rd from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway, NC and for rites of burial on Tuesday, March 24 th , at 2:00 PM at New Elam Christian Church Cemetery in New Hill, NC.  Donations to the GoFundMe.com site flatwoodboysstaystrong for the Sanderford family may be made in lieu of flowers.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
