Norma Jean Godwin, age 78 of Sanford, died Wednesday (5/11/2016) at her home. Norman Jean was born in Sanford and grew up in Gulf, NC to the late Gladys Beal Jeffries and Doyle Lowhanna Jeffries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her husband Charles R. Godwin of the home; Daughters Kelli Stone Beckham (Donnie) of Raleigh, Stephanie Stone Wilson (Robert) of Sanford, NC; Sons Greg Stone (Lisa) of Sanford, NC, Kevin Godwin (Cris) of Sanford, NC, Michael Godwin (Kelli) of Sanford, NC, Juan Vayaz of Miami, FL; Brother Jay Jeffries of Broadway, NC and Sister Vergie Cleavinger (Hal) of Sanford, NC. Jean was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway with Rev. Garland Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6-8pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
