Oliver Eugene Richardson, age 70 of Sanford, passed away on Sunday (3/19/2023) at his home.  He was born on June 30, 1952, son of the late Oliver Richardson and Evelyn Baker Richardson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Barbara, Carolyn, and Diane.  Gene was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Triangle Brick with over 30 years of service.  He loved to hunt, fish, enjoyed being outdoors and was a friend to everyone.  Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church in Sanford with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev. Willie Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  Surviving is his wife, Alice Fay Richardson of the home.  Daughters, Denna Tickle (Michael) of Cameron, NC, Tammy Graveen (Rick) of Wilmington, NC, Donna Davis of Sanford, NC and Wendy Thomas of Sanford, NC.  Sons, Eugene Richardson Jr. (Tonia) of Cameron, NC, Greg Thomas of Florida.  Brother, Billy Richardson of Sanford, NC, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
