Pamela Joyce Brown McLeod, affectionately known to her family and friends as Pam, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home in Pittsboro, North Carolina, following a long and courageous battle with illness. She was 71 years old.

Pam was born on June 28, 1955, in Harnett County, North Carolina, to the late John Duncan Brown and Mary Frances Mangum Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the Mamers and Broadway communities and was a proud graduate of Boone Trail High School, Class of 1973.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 51 years, Danny McLeod of the home; daughter, Trisha Hogan (Andrew) of Brevard; and son, Johnathan McLeod of Broadway. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Brown (Ann) of Cumming, Georgia, as well as a large and loving extended family. Between the Brown and McLeod families, Pam leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives who loved her dearly and will cherish her memory.

Pam's faith in God was strong and steadfast. A few years ago, when doctors at Duke sent her home with less than two weeks to live, Pam wasn't afraid. She knew where she was going when her time came—Heaven. But she also made it clear that she felt she still had more living to do. She fought, and God blessed her family with several more precious years with her.

Pam was a woman who loved people and never met a stranger. She worked at Moen for many years, where she made countless friendships and connections that remained important to her throughout her life. She was also especially proud of her Boone Trail classmates and loved helping plan her high school reunions. Her friendships from those school days were among the many treasures she carried with her throughout her life. Later, Pam spent several years as a substitute teacher in Harnett County Schools. She enjoyed being around young people and brought her humor and personality into the classroom.

Pam was an excellent cook and inherited her love and talent for cooking from her mother, Frances. Many years ago, Pam also tried her hand at making candy. She found joy in making something with her own hands and sharing it with others. Pam also loved cheering on her Tar Heels. But Pam will be remembered most for her sweet spirit, her wonderful sense of humor, and her ability to make people laugh.

She was also blessed with many special girlfriends who had been part of her life since childhood. Kim, Debbie, Frances, Dottie, Charlene, Alicia, and so many others shared years of laughter, memories, and friendship with Pam. These women were more than friends—they were family to her.

Pam's life was marked by faith, love, laughter, friendship, and an unwavering love for her family. She fought hard to stay with the people she loved, but when the time finally came, she was not afraid. Her faith gave her peace because she knew that this life was not the end. Although her family will miss her more than words can express, they can find comfort in knowing that Pam is finally at peace and has gone home to Heaven.

Pam leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a whole lot of people who loved her. Her spirit will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, from 6-8pm at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Building. A celebration of life will service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 2pm at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Parsons and Rev. Scott Yow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
