Patricia Buchanan Worrell, age 72 of Sanford  passed away on Friday (4/2/2021) at her home.  She was born on August 4, 1948, daughter of the late Lonnie Walker Buchanan and Bessie Mae Wilson Buchanan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Curtis Buchanan, Lee Buchanan, Morgan Buchanan, Shirley Buchanan, Nellie Thomas, Helen Buchanan Poe and Vivian Thomas.  Pat was a graduate of Deep River High School, loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.    She enjoyed cooking, being outside, watching hummingbirds in the spring and summer and gardening.  She enjoyed trips to the mountains and beach with her family, socializing with friends and stood strong with her faith in God daily.   Memorial service will be conducted at 1pm Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  Surviving is her husband of 52 years, Jerry Worrell of the home.  Daughters, Deanna Worrell Harris of Sanford, NC and her daughter Megan Nicole Thomas, husband Austin and their daughter Abby; and Kimberly Worrell McElveen and husband Jamie of Little River, SC.  and their children James Edward McElveen III. and Brittany Ashton McElveen.  Surviving sisters, Esther Dawkins and Laverne Bowling both of Sanford, NC.  Due to Covid-19, masks are requested for the service.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
