Obituary

Peggy Kelly Landers, 87, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

Peggy was born June 28, 1930 in Greensboro, NC to the late Edna Thomas Kelly and Raymond Edward Kelly. She graduated from Bessemer High School in 1948 and worked at Jefferson Standard Life Insurance for 5 years, while attending WCUNC night college for 2 years. Peggy then left in 1953 for Miami, FL to attend the University of Miami, Pan American Airlines training classes for 1 year while working as a secretary. In 1954 her dream came true and she started flying for National Airlines for 5 years, began travelling the world. She married in 1959 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in NYC.

A few of her cherished family moments were playing "cowboys and indians" with her brother, riding ponies, going downtown to the movies on Saturdays (movie tone news rail), Shirley Temple movies, attending church with her grandmother and seeing Billy Graham come to Greensboro.

In Greenwich, Peggy was very involved in the Women's Club, Greenwich Hospital Volunteer, Greenwich Girl Scout Leader, helped formed the "Newcomers Club," YWCA Greenwich, volunteered at Greenwich Baptist Church and St. Marys Catholic Church. In Florida she was involved at the Halifax River Yacht Club.

Peggy had a passion for art, interior decorating, antiquing, horsebackriding, ballets, dress designing, drama clubs, theater and NYC where she was a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was incredibly artistic, witty and enjoyed life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Joseph Landers of 53 years in marriage. She is survived by her daughter Maura Landers Riva and grandaughter Alexandra Landers Riva of Pinehurst, NC and her daughter Kelly A. Landers of Palm Beach, FL.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm, Sunday May 27th after 11:00am services at Salem Presbyterian Church.
