Polly Dowdy Harrington, age 94 of Broadway, died Thursday (08/03/2017) at her home. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Hezza Kie Dowdy and Almeria Frances Cox Dowdy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mac Harrington, siblings Maylor Dowdy Brown, Herman Dowdy, Hezza Kie Dowdy Jr., Mabel Dowdy Gunter, and Owen Dowdy. Polly was a graduate of Deep River High School and was retired from Collins Press. She loved music, playing her organ, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of the Broadway Presbyterian Church. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11am Friday at the Shallow Well Church Cemetery with Rev. Richard Rodda officiating. Surviving are her sisters Emma Grace Dowdy Mahone of Norfolk, VA and Freda Beth Dowdy Brafford of Broadway, NC. Brother, William Carson Dowdy and wife Dorothy of Raleigh, NC. Sister in law Carolyn Harrington of Broadway, NC and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
