Rebecca Ann "Dinky" White Johnson, age 82 of Sanford, passed away Friday (7/26/2019) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.  She was born on October 9, 1936, daughter of the late Fred Jones White and Arabella Hunt White.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands John Edward Buchanan and Lawrence Johnson.  Rebecca was a wonderful mother who was devoted to her children.  She loved the Lord and caring for others.  She brought love, laughter and joy to all who knew her.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Norris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery.  Surviving are her sons John Edward Buchanan Jr. of the home and William Charles Buchanan of Sanford, NC.  Daughters Cathie Yarborough, Merry Carol Shue, Cynthia Chalker and husband Rodney, and Deborah Earp all of Sanford, NC and Patsy Flynn of Mamers, NC.  Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
