Rex Bell Johnson, age 81 of Broadway, died Thursday (11/1/2018) at his home.  He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Wade and Sadie Watkins Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Pope, twin brother John Allen Johnson and his wife Frances Johnson.  Rex was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, was a truck driver and for many years was the owner and operator of the Seminole Mart.  Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Sunday (11/4/2018) at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Houston and Rev. Scott Yow officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church cemetery.  Surviving is his son Ronnie Johnson and wife Connie.  Daughter Renee Frye and husband Alton.  Grandchildren Taylor, LeeAnna, Jake, Justin, Josh, Tiffany and Bethany.  Great grandchildren Tansley, Brayden and Gracelynn; and siblings, Polly Genthe, Larry Johnson and Clark Johnson.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1302 Broadway, NC 27505 or to the American Heart Association.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
