Roger Thomas Stone, age 70 of Sanford, died Tuesday (1/4/2022) at his home.  He was born in Lee County on November 21, 1951, son of the late Burnice Lee Stone and Eunice Lee Stone.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters, Charlene Eddins , Mabel Watson and brothers, Harry Stone, Lee Stone, Charles Stone and Steven Douglas Stone.  He was a member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church.  Graveside services will be conducted at 3pm Saturday at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Fallon Melvin officiating.  Surviving is his wife, Shelby Burton Stone of the home.  Daughter, Christie Dennis and husband Kenneth of Broadway, NC.  Son, Steven Douglas Stone of Sanford, NC.  Sister, Sylvia Nunnery and husband Ricky of Sanford, NC.  Brothers, William Stone, Harvey Stone and wife Lucy and Bennie Stone of Sanford, NC.  Grandchildren, Victoria Williams, Westley Dennis, and four great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
