Ronald Craig Buchanan, age 72 of Broadway, died Monday (8/31/2020) at his home.  He was born in Lee County, son of the late Warren G. Buchanan and Peggy McLeod Buchanan.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  He retired from the NC Department of Transportation Highway Division with 30 plus years of service.  He also worked with the Lee County Rescue Squad for over 20 years and enjoyed fishing at the coast and building model cars.   A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday at the Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Buchanan officiating.  Surviving are his brother Randy Buchanan (Vickie) of Sanford, NC.  Sisters, Sharon B. Staley of Lillington, NC, Joan Shaw (Mac) of Lillington, NC, Sheila Gross of Benson, NC, and eighteen nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends at Craig's home.  Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing limitation guidelines will be followed and mask will be required.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
