Ronald Wayne Thomas, age 75 of Broadway, passed away on Monday (8/31/2026) at Parkview Retirement Home in Sanford. He was born in Lee County, son of the late James Floyd Thomas and Dorothy Patterson Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tommy Thomas and his niece, Kimberly Thomas. Ronnie coached little league baseball for many years, spending many hours at the field coaching his sons and children in the community. He loved to mow grass, and was a true fan, loving anything that was NC State and supporting the Wolfpack. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay McNeill Thomas of the home; sons, Ron Thomas (Jessica Lonas) of Lillington, NC and Wesley Thomas and wife Amber of Zebulon, NC; sister, Susan Thomas and husband David of Broadway, NC; brother, Steve Thomas of Lillington, NC; grandchildren, Noah Thomas and wife Taylor, Elijah Thomas, Mackenzie Thomas and Blake Thomas; sister-in-law, Judy Thomas of Sanford, NC and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday (9/4/2026) from 1-2pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway. A celebration of life service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Mike Oldham officiating.
