Roy Neil Knight III, age 57 of Sanford, died Sunday (2/14/2016). He was born on May 18, 1958, son of the late Roy Neil Knight Jr. and Barbara Jean Smith Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a Paramedic working for many years with Fort Bragg EMS and also served in surrounding counties. He also was a baseball coach and umpire, football coach and was a basketball referee working for many years with the children in our area. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday (2/19/2016) at the Juniper Springs Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackney and Rev. Joshua Hopkins officiating. A private burial will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen. Surviving are his wife Peggie Barron Knight of the home; Daughters Sabrina Nelson (Michael) and Amanda Sharpe (Derrick)all of Broadway, NC; Sons Roy Neil Knight IV (Callie) of Sanford, NC and William Knight (Kayla Rouse) of Broadway, NC; Step-children Ryan Hicks and Megan Hicks both of Sanford, NC; Sister Patricia Harris of Las Vegas, NV; Seven grandchildren Charles Nelson, Grace May Nelson, Molly Nelson, Madyson Sharpe, Mason Sharpe, Emily Knight and Levie Knight. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
