Obituary

Ruby Pearl Phillips, age 98 of Sanford, died Thursday (4/25/2013) at Sanford Health and Rehab. She was born in Rockingham County, daughter of the late William Fountain Phillips and Jessie Joyce Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents; Brothers Howard Phillips, Harold Phillips, Bill Phillips, Norman Phillips, Rev. Jimmy Phillips and Weldon Phillips and sister Edith P. Frye. She was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church but attended Shallow Well United Church of Christ for many years. She was a caregiver for many people both young and old. Prior to her parents' death she worked at the Garment Production Shop as a seamstress. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Thompson and Rev. Garland Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Shallow Well Church Cemetery. Surviving are her brothers Travis Phillips and wife Betty, Roger "Gene" Phillips and wife Anne and Melvin Phillips and wife Margaret all of Sanford and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 2-3pm Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the home of Sherry Phillips Kent, 4272 Cox Mill Road Sanford. The family request that memorial donations be given to a church or charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
