SHIRLEY  P.  BOUDREAU died May 10, 2026 of Leukemia, after a brief illness at age 80.

She was born February 1, 1946 in Dunn, North Carolina, the eldest of eight children, to James Randal Parker, Sr.  and Mamie Lois Parker.  She grew up in Dunn and Benson, the adjoining town.  After high school she moved with her family to Clermont, Florida where she met and married Emery " Lou"  Boudreau in 1968.  They had three children  Derek Boudreau, Michelle Boudreau and Nicole  Murphy.   They settled in Oakton, Virginia where her husband had a successful financial management business.  Emery  Boudreau was killed in a tragic automobile accident in 1995.

In 2007 she met her current husband Peter Hartogensis.   They were married in 2008.  They lived in Bethesda, Maryland until 2017, when they sold their Bethesda home and bought a home in Bethany Beach, Delaware, where they lived until her passing.  They were both avid tennis players.  They met as partners in a tennis competition, played very well together, then started seeing each other socially.   During their marriage, they played tennis in the National Senior Games, winning in Virginia and Maryland, then going on to the national level, playing in Houston, TX, Palo Alto, CA, Cleveland, OH, and Minneapolis, MN usually winning a few rounds but eventually running into a couple a bit better.  In addition to the tennis Shirley and her husband traveled to Costa Rica, France, England, Ireland, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Finland and China.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Patty Lou Parker, a brother William Robert Parker and another brother James Randal Parker, Jr.  She is survived by her husband Peter Hartogensis;  her three children Derek, Michelle and Nicole;   four sisters Sylvia Parker, Betty Sue Mason, Dorothy Holmes and Cathy Paterson and seven grandchildren.

Two celebrations of life are planned, one in or near Bethany Beach, DE, where she lived with her husband at the time of her death, and the other near Dunn, NC., where she grew up and still has a lot of family and friends.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 20th at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway, North Carolina.  Inurnment will follow at the Broadway Town Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements in North Carolina  are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
