Stephen "Steve" Wayne Mason, age 79, died Saturday night August 16, 2025, at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, NC; surrounded by his family. Steve was born in Harnett County, NC on May 12,1946, son of Henry Mason and Annie Butler Mason. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Son Scotty Mason, Brothers Benny Mason, Howe Mason, and Randy Mason. He retired from the House Autry after Forty-Two years of service. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday (8/20/2025) at Baptist Chapel Church with the Rev. Scott Yow and the Rev. Alex Smith, Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of Fifty-Nine years Barbara Mason of the home. Son Rodney Mason (Tammy) of South Hill, VA. Sisters; Joyce Allen and Carolyn Thomas, both of Sanford, NC. Debbie Spence (Ray) of Morehead City, NC and Sylvia Johnson (Donald) of Lillington, NC; Brother Henry "Junior" Mason of Lillington, NC. Grandchildren; Brandy Dover ("RJ" Dover); Brittany Cockram (Kendall Cockram), Brooke Mason (Luke Futreal), Lindsey Cleaton (Drew Cleaton) and Spencer Taylor. Great-Grandchildren, Skylar, Trey, Brycen, Beatrice, Dawson, and Katherine. The family would like to thank everyone for their visits, thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 PM on Tuesday (8/19/2025) at the Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
