Steve Kevin Kent, age 60, passed away on Sunday (4/12/2026) at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, He was born in Elkhart, Indiana, son of the late Lloyd Wayne Kent and Dorothy Leslie Barker.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Eric.  Steve was a very special person and defied the odds that were given to him as a baby.  When the doctors told his parents that he would not have a long life, he proved them all wrong by celebrating his 60th birthday on March 13, 2026.  Steve loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.   He loved his music, especially the songs of Charlie Pride, and George Jones, but thanks to the playlist his nephew Nick made him, he also grew to enjoy the songs of Jason Aldean.  Steve loved trips to Bojangles to get a BoBerry biscuit and sweet tea.  Taking rides in his brother's truck made him happy, and spending time with his family was one of his favorite things.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 6-8pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  A graveside funeral service will be held later in May at the Amburg Cemetery in Amburg, Wisconsin.  He is survived by his brother, Lloyd Kent and wife Sherry of Sanford, North Carolina; sisters, Virginia Novak of Wausaukee, Wisconsin and Mary Darnell of Lancaster, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Melissa, Nick, Troy, Nathan, Michelle, Adam, Steve, and several great-nieces and nephews.
