Terry Lee Thomas passed away at his home on October 23, 2022.  He was born on December 4, 1952 at Ft. Bragg Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, NC to the late Edward Warren Thomas and Nellie Sheppard Thomas.  Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to bluegrass and gospel music, and playing standup bass.  He worked for Lorillard Tobacco Company and Swisher International. Inc. before he retired and moved back to Broadway.

Terry was a graduate of Broadway High School in 1971, Campbell College in 1978 (BS in Chemistry), and Appalachian State University in 1990 (MA in Chemistry).  In 1971, he enlisted in the US Navy serving 4 years and obtaining the rank of E-5 working as a Hospital Corpsman at the Charleston Naval Hospital CCU and the Bermuda Naval Air Station Hospital.  In 1975, he enlisted in the US Air Force obtaining the rank of Captain.  While in the Air Force, he flew with the Hurricane Hunters working as a Weather Officer.

Terry was preceded in death by both parents, brother Jerry Wayne Thomas, and niece Kelly Thomas Cox.  He is survived by brothers Larry S. Thomas (Patricia) of Sanford and Eddie Warren Thomas (Tracy) of Deatsville, AL, sister-in-law Grace S. Thomas of Sanford, nieces Nicole Thomas Johnson, Amy Thomas McCaskill (Miles), Beth Thomas Haas (John), Jessica Thomas Campbell, and nephew Benjamin Thomas, great-nephews Luke Thomas (Chloe), Keaton Haas, Brennan Haas, Jude Campbell, and great-nieces Abby Thomas and Madison Haas.

Graveside memorial service will be at the Broadway Town Cemetery on Friday, October 28 at 11:00.  Arrangements are being made by Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  Family will receive friends at the home of Larry and Patricia Thomas.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com
