On the morning of May 15, 2025, Waylon Howard Griffin, age 90, went to be with His Lord and Savior.  He was reunited with his father, Mack Griffin and his mother, Fannie Howard Griffin.  Howard was a soft-spoken, hard-working man, kind and generous to a fault.  He loved his family, his church and his many friends and co-workers.  Howard especially loved scouring local yard sales, auctions and flea markets, then showing off those "finds".  A life long resident of Buckhorn Road, Howard was a member of Baptist Chapel Baptist Church, serving many roles over the years including deacon and secretary/treasurer.  Howard was a fixture in the Town of Broadway, starting with life on the farm, he came to town in the mid 1950's to work in Archie Cameron's Grocery Store until the Cameron's retired.  He then began his long tenure with the Town of Broadway's Maintenance Department. On any given day, Howard could be spotted around town mowing grass, reading water meters or operating his weed eater, his very favorite task.  Howard worked full time for the town well into his seventies, and part-time into his eighties until he finally retired in  2022.   He was honored to be named the Grand Marshal of the Broadway Christmas Parade and upon his retirement, a street was named for him.  Howard is survived by his loving sister, Agnes McNeill (Ray) and his nephews, Kenneth McNeill (Trisha) and Richard McNeill (Kristie); great- nieces, Morgan Rosser (Dylan), Katie Makepeace (Steven). Abby McNeill, Emma McNeill and his great nephew, Max McNeill.  Visitation will be 6-8pm Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Baptist Chapel Baptist Church.  The funeral will be on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 3:00pm at Baptist Chapel with Rev. Eddie Thomas and Rev. Alex Smith officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery.  The family request that remembrances of Howard be written down and brought to the visitation and service where they will be collected.  Additionally, notebooks will be provided at each service to record your remembrances.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com  Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Broadway Inc.
