Wesley Adam Gunter, age 36 of Sanford, died Sunday (10/16/2016) at his home. He was born on March 31, 1980, son of Robert Gunter and Patricia Wood Johnson. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, J.D. Wood and James Gunter. Wesley was a graduate of Lee County High School Class of 1999. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Arauco North America and Cherokee Brick in Corinth. He loved the outdoors, his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Friday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rhonda Wilson and Rev. Scott Yow officiating. Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery. Surviving are his father Robert Gunter and Teresa Williams of Mills River, NC; Mother Patricia Wood Johnson and Harold Johnson of Sanford, NC; Wife Doris Wilson Gunter of the home; Brother Christopher Lynn Gunter of Whidbey Island, Washington; Maternal grandmother Mildred Wood of Sanford, NC, Paternal grandparents Clifford and Eva Reinheart of Conover, NC and his two best friends, Jason Inman and Zeb Stackpole. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
