William Henry Baker Sr., age 80 of Spring Lake, died Monday (12/16/2019) at the First Health Hospice Center in Pinehurst.  He was born in Robeson County on February 19, 1939, son of the late David Henry Baker and Carrie Pate Baker.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years Betty Louise Jones Baker, four brothers, four sisters, and two grandsons.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday (12/19/2019) at 2pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pearl Castleberry officiating.  Burial will follow in the Broadway Town Cemetery.  He is survived by his sister Almeda Welch.  Daughter Linda Baker Hardy and husband Jim.  Sons, William Henry Baker Jr. and wife Diane, David Henry Baker and wife Shelia, Johnny Eugene Baker and wife Cheryl and George Oscar Baker and wife Kim.  Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and his dog Little Man.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorials to be made to Smith Funeral Home in memory of William "Buddy" Henry Baker III.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfuneralhomebroadway.com Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
