William Edward Moore, age 80 of Moncure, passed away on Friday (4/5/2024) at Wake Med Cary.  He was born on September 15, 1943, son of the late William Rufus Moore and Bettie Ann Hicks Moore.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Georgia Palmer Moore.  William was a graduate of Moncure High School and attended North Carolina State University.  He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, was an avid fisherman and wing shooter.  Springtime brought the excitement of planning and planting a big bountiful garden that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.  He was the largest NC State fan and was able to enjoy watching their journey to the final four.  He enjoyed automotive racing, especially his involvement in drag racing with buddies in his earlier years. Surviving is his son, Brian Moore and wife, Kimberly of Moncure, NC. Daughter, Anna Moore and fiancé Troy Blackwelder of Moncure, NC.  Sister, Marietta Dixon and husband Frank of Fairview, NC; grandchildren, Joanna, Taylor, Lily, Sarah, Brooke, and great-grandchildren, Levi and Ava.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Friday (4/12/2024) at Buckhorn Methodist Church with Rev.  Garland Smith officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Buckhorn Methodist Church Cemetery.
